A memoir by award-winning poet and critic Edward Hirsch. The 288-page book uses dark comic prose, deadpan microchapters, and joke-like setups to recount his mid-century Jewish upbringing in Chicago and Skokie, Illinois<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

Regina and her granddaughter Mika embark on a journey to Poland to reclaim their family property seized during World War II. But their quest quickly unravels. December 15: “Don\u2019t Forget To Write” by Sara Goodman Confino<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t Forget to Write by Sara Goodman Confino is a humorous and heartwarming historical fiction novel set in 1960 about a young Jewish woman, Marilyn Kleinman, who is sent to live with her matchmaker great-aunt Ada for the summer after causing a scandal at her synagogue. The book follows Marilyn’s journey of self-discovery as she learns from her unconventional aunt about independence, love, and forging her own path, challenging the expectations placed on women at the time.<\/strong>\n\n—————————————————<\/strong><\/p>\n

January 26:\u00a0“Look Who\u2019s Back” Film Directed by David Wnendt<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Adolf Hitler wakes up to find himself in the 21st century when his bunker used to be, with no memory of anything after 1945. Interpreting modern situations from a Nazi perspective, he finds fame and success as a comedian.<\/strong>\n\n—————————————————<\/strong><\/p>\n

February 23: “The Garden” by Elsie Aidinoff<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

One of the world\u2019s oldest stories becomes new again in the hands of a 70-year-old first-time novelist. The setting is a lush, freshly formed Garden of Eden, where Eve is just awakening to the all-wise, feathered Serpent who is her guardian.<\/strong>\n\n—————————————————<\/strong><\/p>\n

March 16: “This is Not About Us” by Allegra Goodman<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This Is Not About Us is a 2026 novel by Allegra Goodman that\u00a0follows three generations of a modern Jewish American family, the Rubinsteins, exploring their complex relationships, conflicts, and love through a series of linked stories that begin with a dispute over an apple cake after a sister’s death.\u00a0The book is praised for its humor, sharp observations, and relatable portrayal of family dynamics, covering themes like parental expectations, sisterhood, and the challenges of growing up and growing old.\u00a0It’s described as a “serial novel” because parts were published individually before being compiled.<\/strong>\n\n—————————————————<\/strong><\/p>\n
